SERVING STONED SHAKESPEARE SINCE 2017

In 2017, founder Micaela Mannix attended her first Shakespeare in the Pub experience and thought, "Damn, I want to play." She created Bowls with the Bard as a haven for Shakespearean Stoners, but really for anyone who wants to get a little silly while engaging with the works of Billy Shakespeare.

February 22nd - 25th at The Coffee Joint in Denver. Doors open at 6pm, house opens at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm. The show on February 23 is SOLD OUT.

See the Shakespeare play you've never heard of in a way you'll never see it again: featuring an all female and non-binary cast and a whole lot of weed.

The Coffee Joint is wheelchair accessible. We do not have plans for closed captioning or ASL interpretation during the live run of the show but are hoping to offer these features in a filmed version later. We are looking into live streaming one night of the show.

Consumer Ticket - $20

The Coffee Joint is a consumption lounge and allows the consumption of marijuana in the form of vapes, concentrates, and edibles. As of 2024, they have implemented a $5 consumption fee for all patrons. If you would like to indulge in marijuana during the show, please indicate you are purchasing a Consumer Ticket and pay $20.

Viewer Ticket - $15

The Coffee Joint is a consumption lounge and allows the consumption of marijuana in the form of vapes, concentrates, and edibles. As of 2024, they have implemented a $5 consumption fee for all patrons. Serving double the creative trouble, we have Paige! Paige Flores-Medrano is a proud Latine Nonbinary Director of the Stage and of Movement. They have directed short movement pieces for Red Veil Productions and pride themselves to create original pieces that cover topics of mental health and the macabre. With a Bachelors degree from the University of Northern Colorado, Paige hopes to create narratives and advance their trade via collaboration. "To draw knowledge from one source, limits the creations of the soul." That quote drives their artistic vision into the future works and productions. It’s time to meet the Midsummer team! Our fearless director is Mary Schaugh: Mary is known for her collaborative and innovative directing style that focuses on engaging audiences in thought-provoking and immersive experiences. For the last 15 years, Mary has directed productions throughout the U.S., on both stage and screen, spanning from opera to children’s theatre and from Shakespeare to musical theatre. She enjoyed a tenure as the regional director for the national Murder Mystery Company, an interactive, live event with a rotating cast of actors, and gained the nation’s highest ratings. In addition to directing, Mary is an accomplished actor, opera singer, and improvisor with credits in New York, Los Angeles, Colorado, and Italy. Mary is honored to be directing the inaugural production of Bowls with the Bard, and she imagines if Shakespeare were alive, he would truly enjoy lighting up and laughing it up with this incredible cast of talented, adventurous, hilarious actors. More than special thanks goes to Micaela Mannix for entrusting Mary with this wonderful task, and to Paige Flores-Medrano for their incredible support and contribution to this production.
